Laboratory Corporation of America Lab Technician - Monogram - entry level, will train! in South San Francisco, California

Monogram Biosciences, part of LabCorp, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its team in South San Francisco! This position will be responsible for working with automated and semi-automated equipment specifically working with cell-based assays from introduction of virus, cells and drug addition to the final read step. This is a great entry level opportunity to join an innovative laboratory and receive targeted one-on-one training that will help the individual grow in a career in the biotechnology field.

The schedule for this position will be Monday -- Friday, 3:00pm -- 11:30pm with rotating weekends (one month on, one month off)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine laboratory duties within Cell Assay area including:

  • Specimen handling (post plasmid prep)

  • Addition of anti-retroviral drugs and virus to cells

  • Operation of instrumentation

  • Instrument maintenance and initial troubleshooting

  • Completion of QA Documents

  • Responsible for all duties associated within the Cell Assay Laboratory

  • Perform inventory control

  • Practice aseptic / sterile techniques

  • May participate in creating Standard Operating Procedures

  • Comply with all safety/infection control policies and procedures

  • Communication with outside departments including Molecular Lab, Research and Development and Process Development Organization

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related scientific field

  • Understanding and familiarity with aseptic technique and good specimen handling

  • Strong computer skills: familiarity with Microsoft Excel is beneficial

  • Experience with SOPs, QA and QC standards

  • Must have good organizational skills and strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in collaborative, flexible work environment

  • Ability to work flexible hours during training
