Monogram Biosciences, Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of LabCorp), is a leader in developing and commercializing innovative diagnostic products to help guide and improve the treatment of HIV, HCV, and other viral illnesses, as well as cancer and other diseases. Monogram is supporting critical testing for COVID19. Monogram's services enable health care providers to optimize treatment regimens for their patients. Monogram also supports pharmaceutical companies in developing new and improved antiviral therapeutics and vaccines and targeted cancer therapeutics. The Lab Supervisor will work closely with Sr. lab staff to lead the lab with emphasis on patient quality, compliance with required regulations, and adherence to Monogram values. This position will be responsible for supervising bench operations of the Clinical Reference Lab, directly managing both unlicensed and licensed lab staff.

The schedule for this position will be Monday -Friday, 3:00pm-11:30pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operation of assigned laboratory group to ensure that specimens are properly shipped and received, tests are performed accurately and efficiently, and results are reported in a timely manner

  • Monitor daily workflow in the lab, plan/ schedule for adequate assay coverage, and troubleshoot/ escalate problems, as necessary

  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory testing staff. This includes clearly communicating expectations to staff and evaluating individual employee performance

  • Assist with the hiring of qualified, enthusiastic employees

  • Monitor time tracking system for employees and ensuring attendance expectations are being met

  • Engage in continuous process and service improvement. Make and implement recommendations to improve operational efficiency and implement new services for areas of responsibility

  • Provide technical troubleshooting and decision making

  • Ensure QC and maintenance of all laboratory equipment

  • Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations based on thorough evaluation of technical, quality and efficiency impact

  • Assist with monitoring sample progression and respond to sample status inquiries from customer service as needed

  • Coordinate staff training in partnership with CRL trainers

  • Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations

  • Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirements

  • Meet regularly with direct reports. Provide coaching and constructive feedback, and career development discussions. Write and deliver performance reviews and build a positive CRL team environment

Requirements

  • BA/BS in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory

  • CA CLS license required (Generalist)

  • Minimum 6 years of clinical laboratory experience required

  • Previous supervisor experience preferred

  • Experience or familiarity with molecular techniques a plus

  • Proven leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficient at multi-tasking, solid organizational skills, and ability to be flexible

  • Ability to interact effectively with various departments: R&D, Process Development, Support Operations, Customer Service, Quality and Clinical Research

  • Knowledge of CLIA, JCAHO, CAP and state regulations a plus
