Laboratory Corporation of America Lab Manager in South Bend, Indiana
This position will manage the day to day operations of the following departments: Hematology, Chemistry, Molecular, Flow Cytometry and Microbiology, as well as oversee and provide support to the leadership and employees of these departments.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Hematology/Chemistry, Molecular/Flow Cytometry, and Microbiology laboratories.
Oversee and provide support to a team of supervisors and laboratory staff within laboratory functional areas.
Monitor the monthly productivity of designated areas of responsibility and report any deviations.
Manage the productivity of direct reports using various performance metrics.
Work collaboratively with the sales and operations teams to establish strong working relationships with clients.
Review staffing models to address inefficiencies and implement changes when necessary.
Drive customer and patient satisfaction ensuring timely responses to all matters.
Monitor the overtime spending and overall budget on a regular basis.
Assist with the leasing of new locations in a designated area.
Maintain the required personnel to meet metrics and ensure staff is properly trained.
Work cross-functionally within the division to create efficiencies and improve production.
Provide recognition, feedback and constructive criticism to the entire team.
Address and resolve any customer or client related issues in a timely manner.
Report any performance, compliance or staffing related issues.
Requirements
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a relevant concentration
Minimum 3 years of experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory, 5+ preferred
3+ years supervisor experience or leadership experience preferred
Experience in a high volume clinical laboratory environment
Strong working knowledge of quality assurance practices and procedures
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
ASCP Certification required. Specialty Boards a plus (Special Hematology, Special Chemistry)
Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision
Prior experience with managing costs and the overall budget preferred
Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees
Excellent computer skills; experience with an LIS
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Must possess a valid Drivers License
