Laboratory Corporation of America Technician in Shelton, Connecticut
Performs all technical duties related to the production of histo-pathological slides to include but not limited to:
Perform ancillary tasks pertaining to all histological technical processes.
Embed human tissue.
Perform basic level of microtomy, routine and special stains.
Prepare and discard reagents and material per lab guidelines.
Operate and maintain tissue processors, embedding instruments, microtome and automated routine H& E staining instruments.
Perform preventive maintenance on all histological instruments.
Maintain logs, QC routine and special stains.
Follow all technical standard operating procedures.
Perform additional job functions required and requested by lab supervisor/manager/director.
Additional duties as assigned.
- Requires an AAS degree in a life science OR a high school diploma with 1-2 years of clinical lab experience and completion of training in microtomy.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Experience in histology.
Knowledge of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, accumulation limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling, container and storage inspection.
Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
3rd Shift Monday-Friday 1:00am-9:30am
