Labcorp Technologist Trainee - Biochemistry - Entry level, will train! in Santa Fe, New Mexico

The Integrated Genetics division (part of LabCorp's Specialty Testing Group) has an exciting opportunity for a Technologist Trainee in Santa Fe, NM. This position will be working in the Biochemistry/Biochemical Genetics department, which is performing prenatal screening. The Technologist Trainee will process specimens and perform all biochemical assays in the laboratory. Additionally, this position will be responsible for maintaining equipment, document all maintenance/QC results, and participate in troubleshooting and supervision/training of other staff as needed.

The schedule for this position will be: Tuesday-Saturday, 7am-3:30pm


  • Process biochemistry specimens, including but not limited to; batch, receipt, confirmation of patient identification, preparation of specimen for analysis

  • Perform biochemical assays as assigned and transmit results to computer

  • Participate in troubleshooting of assays and equipment as needed

  • Participate in Proficiency Test Surveys

  • Comply with Quality Control requirements including but not limited to; equipment maintenance and calibrations, review assays for QC acceptability, maintain QC records and instrument/equipment records, solution preparation and other tasks as directed

  • Report service failures/non conformances to supervisor/manager and documents corrective actions as needed

  • Provide supervision of non-technical staff and trainees as needed


  • BS/BA in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or equivalent biological science

  • No previous experience required at the Technologist Trainee level

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus

  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

1st shift (Tuesday-Saturday 7am-3:30pm). Needs to be flexible to work other days and hours for coverage.
