Labcorp Genetic Coordinator Assistant in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Performs a variety of advanced administrative duties for a designated department including clerical and customer service functions. Handles and assists with specific projects as assigned by director.

The work schedule for this position will be 1st shift (Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm)

Some Saturdays if possible.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Supports the functions of the Genetic Coordinator (GC) department in managing Special Studies, which are cases requiring additional case management beyond routine tests done on site

  • This includes supporting the GCs in Accessioning, Client Services, Send Outs and Reporting duties Accessioning

  • Assist with review of TRFs

  • Data entry in the laboratory information system (LIS)

  • Monitoring InSight results and sending direct samples depending on results

  • Client Services

  • Contact clients for missing information or to clarify orders

  • Alerting clients of delays

  • Triage calls from clients in the GC queue

  • Send Outs

  • Assist with preparing paperwork for samples being sent to reference labs

  • Notify reference lab to expect the sample

  • Reporting

  • Assist with contacting clients to confirm receipt of reference lab results

  • Assist with managing WIP lists

  • Uses LIS, databases and other resources to manage cases under the direction of the GC Manager Communicates clearly in both oral and written form, within the team and with other departments

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Document case work and interactions with clients in the LIS system ·

  • Send and receive faxes

EHS Responsibilities:

  • Attend all required EHS training

  • Wear appropriate PPE as required

  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local regulations, EGL/LC EHS policies and procedures and the requirements of accrediting organizations

  • Conduct work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and contribute to weekly departmental meetings

  • Work with team members in the department and with staff in other departments to insure that cases are managed accurately and in a timely manner

  • Other projects and duties as assigned by the GC Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Life Science such as Biology, Chemistry or Genetics, or a related field Skills and Abilities

  • 5-7 years experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Customer service focus

  • Problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Familiarity with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
