The Sequenom division of LabCorp has an exciting opportunity for a Software Development, Team Lead in the Torrey Pines area of San Diego. Sequenom, part of Integrated Genetics within LabCorp's Specialty Testing Group, is focused on women's healthcare tests and non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT).
The Software Development, Team Lead will be the point person for the development team as well as for the laboratory information management systems (LIMS). This position will be responsible for designing solutions to meet complex business and laboratory requirements. As a member of the Information Technology department, the Software Development (LIMS), Team Lead will lead the Software Engineers and collaborate closely with the Business Systems Analysts in order to turn business requirements into design specifications.
Lead a team of software developers in the development of LIMS in accordance with software development best standards and practices
Record software architecture in a software architecture document applying use cases and the Unified Modeling Language (UML)
Design, create, maintain and evolve software architecture documents based on evolving system requirements and industry trends and technologies
Ensure the overall integrity of the software architecture and validate to the system specification.
Perform detailed software design as well as implement and/or maintain code according to duties and responsibilities
Participate in the system specification review process to ensure system requirements can be translated into valid software architecture
Lead the code review process to ensure system performance levels are achieved, encourage best practices and to quickly identify defects
Train and mentor Software Engineers
Enforce software version control, SDLC and application lifecycle management best practices
Collaborate with the Software Quality Assurance team to ensure that software solutions are testable, and that the appropriate level of test coverage is achieved
Work closely with the Database team to ensure that designed software solutions can be supported by the database architecture/infrastructure
Collaborate with Solutions Architect, Database Administrator and System Administrators to design systems that are maintainable and can scale
Implement Continuous Integration practices to support rapid deployment of quality software
License/Certification/Education: Normally requires a B.S. Degree in Computer Science with 10 years of experience in related field.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or combination of relevant education and experience.
Minimum 7 -10years of programming in an object-oriented language (C#, Java, VB.NET, C++, Python)
Minimum 2-4 years management experience, directly supervising a small team of software developers/engineers
Thorough understanding of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and object-oriented programming standards and practices.
Strong and effective inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff
Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into a tangible form
Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
