The Forensic Lab Team Lead is responsible for testing specimens, analyzing results, and coordinating workflow to ensure established turnaround times are met. This position will support all three areas of the Forensic lab, Extractions, Screens and Instruments.
Key Team Lead Responsibilities:
Promotes a positive teamwork environment
Actively enforce operational goals, policies, and procedures
Support increased communication with other departments and across the organization
Assist with training and development, provide timely and constructive feedback. Help develop training manuals and other educational materials. Maintain training documents.
Monitor pending lists and delegate work to employees; adjust daily assigned tasks as necessary
Provide ETAs on status checks for specimen management team
Monitor laboratory QA checks for various functions within the laboratory
Assist with special projects as assigned by supervisor or manager
Assist with Competency Assessments (must meet New York requirement-- 7yrs laboratory experience required)
Reviewing, revising and implementing SOP's
Act as the designated point person in the absence of Supervisor, Manager or Director
General Lab Responsibilities:
Receive specimens for testing and perform testing; evaluate specimens and test orders; prioritize work to maintain efficiency and acceptable turn-around-time; recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle appropriately
Evaluate and interpret raw and final data; recognize and correct errors; recognize unusual or toxic results and take appropriate action; advise testing personnel and confer with certifying scientists to interpret data as needed; report results
Calibrate, clean, perform scheduled maintenance and low level repair of GCMS and LC-MS/MS systems
Interact with biomedical technician and field service engineers to maintain and repair instruments and equipment
Follow quality control rules; monitor controls and take corrective action; maintain laboratory records, maintenance logs, quality control charts, reagent and standard logs, and worksheets; review all documents for completeness and accuracy

Required Education, Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time
Excellent research and problem resolution skills
Must be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Work effectively in fast paced high volume environment
Additional Experience Required for Team Lead Position:
5 years of pertinent laboratory/technical experience
Demonstrated strong performer
Proven ability to lead by example
Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills; ability to communicate in an effective and timely manner
Friday- Monday 10A-8:30P; FLEXIBLE W/ HOURS.
