Labcorp Specimen Management Supervisor in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

LabCorp is seeking a Specimen Management Supervisor to join our team in RTP, NC! This position will be responsible for day to day oversight of the pre-analytical, accessioning, send out's and receiving departments. The Specimen Management Supervisor will directly oversee the department operations and employees performing processing and accessioning of incoming samples. In addition, the Supervisor will troubleshoot specimens and participate in training of other employees in the department.

The schedule for this position will be: Monday -- Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm


  • Supervise the day to day operations of the non-technical staff for the accessioning, pre-analytical, send out's and receiving departments

  • Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing

  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor non-technical personnel of the department

  • Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate coverage

  • Troubleshoot daily specimen problems

  • Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed

  • Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary

  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements

  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy

  • Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents

  • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development

  • Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures

  • Process and maintain payroll and personnel files

  • Perform administrative duties as needed


  • High school diploma required. Associates degree preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a related field

  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory desired

  • Previously leadership experience highly preferred

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus

  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal

  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills

  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the positionMust be able to pass a standardized color vision screen




1st shift (Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm)
