Gains knowledge of department operations and procedures under direct supervision and in an entry-level capacity. Conducts qualitative and quantitative analyses on organic and inorganic samples to determine their chemical properties. Participates in development of new analytical procedures. Gains knowledge of department operations and procedures.
Responsible for basic programming, troubleshooting, and optimization of Hamilton STAR liquid handlers in high-throughput genomics laboratories. Develop new automation and improve existing automation protocols. Provide ongoing support for Hamilton systems within the company. Optimize liquid handling performance for any new or current protocols. Transition manual workflows to automated platforms. Write, edit and execute SOPs for NGS methods. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in R & D (or equivalent experience); or Masters of Science degree with experience in R & D (or equivalent experience). This is an entry level position for a candidate with a Master of Science in R & D. Experience using literature/search engines/databases to pursue science.
Three plus years of experience performing NGS protocols. Two years of experience using laboratory automation. Experience using Venus to program Hamilton liquid handlers is desired, but not required. Experience performing a wide variety of genetic analysis procedures is desired.
