Labcorp Molecular Oncology Lab Services Team Lead - 3rd Shift in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

The Molecular Oncology Department of CMBP offers over 20 assays for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of various forms of cancer, including leukemia and lymphoma, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, brain tumor, melanoma as well as others.
The Clinical Laboratory Team Lead will work 3rd shift, Sunday - Wednesday 3rd shift 10pm-8:30am (4-10 hour shifts)
Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the Molecular Oncology department
Assisting department operational leadership with overseeing daily laboratory operations:
Coordinating the work of other testing staff in the department; prioritizing, assigning and reviewing work. o Notifying management of problem areas or issues in the lab.
Assisting supervisor in employee actions, including identifying and addressing performance issues.
Acting as liaison with support departments on technical inquiries and test results.
Attending regular management and staff meetings.
Perform PCR based molecular oncology testing in accordance with standard operating procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of various types of cancer.
Utilize a wide array of instrumentation, including Tecan, ABI 3130/3730, and ABI 7900 instruments, performing quality control and calibrations, as required. * Serving as a primary trainer of new staff for the department.
Recognizing problems and initiating troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other problems.
Send daily, weekly and monthly productions reports to management
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Bachelors in Biology Chemistry, Medical Technology or relatable life science
Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Clinical Diagnostic Lab setting (6 years at the Technologist level).
ASCP Certification is a plus
Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
Previous experience with performing PCR-based genetic testing preferred, but not required.
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Sunday - Wednesday 3rd shift 10pm-8:30am
