LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Services Team Leader (Lead Technologist) to join our Products team for our COVID testing lab in RTP, NC! In this position, you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives" as we combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Products department is responsible for the manufacturing of custom reagents used to perform a variety of laboratory-developed tests, primarily in support of PCR/qPCR. This generally includes reagent batch preparation, packaging of finished products, maintenance of departmental QC records, and other duties as requested by department. As the Team Lead, this position will be responsible for preparing the reagents, coordinating with the laboratory and warehouse, and managing the day-to-day tasks of the Products team.

The schedule for this position will be Monday -- Friday, 9:00 a.m. -- 5:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist department operational leadership with overseeing daily laboratory operations:

  • Coordinate the work of the staff in the department; prioritize, assign and review work

  • Notify management of problem areas or issues in the lab

  • Assist supervisor in employee actions, including identifying and addressing performance issues

  • Act as a liaison with support departments on technical inquiries and test results

  • Attend regular management and staff meetings

  • Monitor use of raw materials

  • Prepare reagent batches following lab SOPs

  • Produce labels with lot numbers, expiration dates, and GHS Hazard Communication

  • Label and fill reagent tubes, tubes, bottles and cubitainers

  • Assemble and complete documentation for product lots

  • Prepare orders for shipping or warehouse delivery

  • Use automated and manual lab equipment accurately; including limited maintenance and troubleshooting activities

  • Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

  • Recognize problems and initiate troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other problems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science

  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience working in a clinical diagnostics laboratory

  • Previous experience working with reagents

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

  • Ability to operate a micropipette and repeat pipette required

  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. occasionally required
