Laboratory Corporation of America Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist -- Microbiology in Raritan, New Jersey

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform patient tests and analyses following established procedures in Microbiology

  • Read cultures on assigned benches and perform biochemical testing

  • Set up isolation, identification and susceptibility testing on potential pathogens

  • Document results on worksheets and release completed work through the LIS

  • Read and report gram stains to assist in the diagnosis of the disease

  • Using both automated and manual analytical methods to perform testing

  • Troubleshoot issues and complete corrective action as needed

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment


  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a Life Science

  • Previous experience in a Clinical Microbiology Laboratory is preferred

  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures

  • Working knowledge of pathogenic bacteria from a variety of body sites

  • Familiarity with ID and susceptibility test systems such as Maldi-TOF, Vitek and Microscan

  • ASCP Certification is a plus

  • Basic computer skills; experience with an LIS is a plus

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position




Tuesday - Saturday (10:00pm - 6:30am)
