Labcorp Senior Cytogenetic Technologist in New York, New York
Integrated Oncology, a LabCorp Specialty Testing Group, provides reference anatomic pathology, hematopathology and molecular pathology testing services to hospitals, health systems and independent oncology practices. Integrated Oncology is focused on providing world class solutions to better the lives of patients living with cancer.
The Senior Cytogenetics Technologist will aid the supervisor and managers in the coordination and management of workflow. He/She will facilitate high quality Cytogenetics and/or FISH testing and reporting within established time frames.
Performs all routine and special cytogenetics and/or FISH practices as needed.
Microscope work performed as required. Involved in training technicians and new employees.
Tissue culture procedures
Automated karyotyping procedures
Documents daily performance criteria of reagents and equipment
Evaluates acceptability of results
Evaluation of modifications for improvements of current methods
Participates in training junior personnel
Helps Supervisor with coordination and management of workflow
Normally a BS or BA degree in a biological science
Must be a Cytogenetic Technologist with a minimum of five years' experience
ASCP certified (grandfathering clause if hired by NY lab prior to 2000)
Evaluation of required skills by Supervisor
Good communication skills
