Labcorp Technologist Trainee - 1st shift (Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6:30pm)- Will Train in Burlington, North Carolina

ViroMed Laboratories, a LabCorp Specialty Testing Group, is located within the LabCorp York Court campus and is staffed by a professional team with experience in regulated testing, quality, and service. This laboratory is FDA registered and is dedicated to donor infectious disease testing. ViroMed supports the needs of reproductive (fertility) clinics, tissue and eye banks and stem cell organizations. ViroMed provides services 365 days a year and has an excellent reputation as an expert FDA-licensed resource for our clients.

The work schedule for this position will be 1st shift (Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6:30pm)

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.

  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls

  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary

  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed

  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment





  • Must have a BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or other related science

  • No experience required

  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred (or required depending upon department and state location)

  • Ability to work independently within a team and strong attention to detail

  • Strong organization skills

  • Must be flexible with time and adaptable to change.

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

  • Ability to work overtime as business needs
