Laboratory Corporation of America Senior Research Associate in Burlington, North Carolina
This position is responsible for collaborating with the Management to develop and evaluate new highly complex testing technologies, methodologies, automation, hardware and software in HLA and DNA identification laboratory. Manage multiple projects and communicate milestone and deviations to the technical team. Develop new policies and procedures as required.
Conduct research on R&D projects with limited oversight through the development process and transfer optimized and developed products to the HLA testing laboratory.
Write standard operating procedures and validations.
Aid in developing experimentation plans.
Work closely with R&D director, project manager and other scientific staff in a team environment.
Support operations by troubleshooting and optimizing assays.
Analyze and interpret results.
Read primary scientific literature to help develop and troubleshoot experiments.
Give presentations to colleagues.
Generate reports sufficient to be submitted to peer-reviewed journals.
Coach and assist laboratory staff on newly developed procedures.
B.S. in Biology or Chemistry
5-10 years of research and development experience.
Previous research experience in molecular techniques, including DNA sequencing, DNA isolation, HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen), PCR, capture probe assays, and next generation sequencing.
Experience with Next Generation Sequencing.
Familiarity with HLA testing, laboratory automation or bioinformatics highly desired.
Experience with assay design and assay performance optimization.
Monday- Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
