Laboratory Corporation of America Business Project Director in Burlington, North Carolina

Summary:

Seeking a Senior Project Manager with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of Project Management experience, business and financial acumen, strong leadership skills and clinical laboratory experience. Position will support large initiative(s) that may involve multiple stakeholders and span across several internal businesses, business units, corporate teams, and department and externals partners. Position requires clear, concise communication skills and the ability to navigate and influence various priorities directly with project teams, mangers and executive management.

Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with senior management stakeholders to oversee and manage complex projects.

  • Assisting the project sponsor and other stakeholders with the development of project definition / criteria.

  • Ensuring that project scope and objectives are met within the given time and budget constraints.

  • Working with various managers and external partners to secure the appropriate project resources.

  • Defining, building, and overseeing the development of project scope and schedule.

  • Coordinating and tracking the project activities throughout the duration of the project.

  • Monitoring and handling issues, risks, and project level deviations; escalating significant items as appropriate.

  • Facilitating constructive project change; administering change requests.

  • Determining project communication needs; creating the vehicles of communication as appropriate (meetings, presentations, etc.).

  • Analyzing project components as needed; creating analytical models/reports to support the project.

  • Communicating project information and status to project stakeholders.

  • Fostering teamwork among the project team and outside groups.

  • Managing the relationship with groups outside of the project team (end-users, support teams, consultants, vendors, etc.).

  • Making methodology recommendations and coordinating implementation.

  • Operating comfortably in an environment with tight schedules and high expectations; with autonomy, patience and flexibility.

  • Working with project team, business owner(s) and sponsor to successfully achieve project objective(s).

  • Minimal travel anticipated; ability to travel up to 50% if required for periods of time.

Requirements

Education |Experience and Knowledge:

  • 4 year college degree or related business experience required; advanced degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years project management experience required.

  • Experience working with executive level clients is required.

  • Strong business and financial acumen is required.

  • Clinical laboratory / healthcare background and workflow are a significant plus.

  • Project leadership, change management and cross-functional team management is required.

  • Ability to think strategically and act tactically using experience and knowledge from a broad range of projects is required.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Experience with project management processes and methodologies are required.

  • Experience directly managing a team/organization is strongly desired.

  • Knowledge of LabCorp organization and operations is a plus.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Candidate should be able to ascertain stakeholder needs and deliver oral and written communication at an appropriate level of detail.

  • Knowledgeable and proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and with Microsoft Project or a comparable scheduling tool.
